My Writing ...
I’ve always enjoyed writing, but never really pursued it. Writing seemed like such a risky endeavor. What if I wasn't good enough? So I ignored the dream and went for a business degree instead. I worked as an administrative assistant for several years, and when our first baby came along, I decided to become a full-time mom.
I loved being home with my kids, but I felt like I needed a creative outlet. So I called my pastor and pitched the idea of starting a church newsletter. It worked out great! While my babies napped, I enjoyed some adult conversation while interviewing people from church. Everyone had a story, and I enjoyed sharing those stories. In time, I also began writing about my own experiences with marriage, motherhood and my faith. When my youngest started kindergarten, I decided to take a step toward my dream of becoming a writer. And I've been on the journey ever since. Today, I enjoy writing creative nonfiction stories that encourage, inspire and entertain others. My work has appeared in Guideposts Magazine, The Secret Place Devotional Magazine, Farm and Ranch Living, Chicken Soup for the Soul and more. In 2012 I won a national competition with Guideposts Magazine and attended the Guideposts Writers Workshop in Port Orchard, WA. |
